AP1025KDF/GAC – Product Details
The AP1025KDF/GAC is a high-quality Taiwanese product made by Aqua-Pro. It is a 3 stage filter, which reduces a wide range of contaminants.
Stage 1: Sediment Protection
Water flows through a 10 micron sediment pad. This reduces particulate contaminants including sand, silt, sediment, dirt, algae, and bioslime.
Stage 2: KDF55
KDF (Kinetic Degradation Fluxion) media is a combination of copper and zinc. When oxygenated water flows through this media, some contaminants will gain or lose electrons, changing them into inert molecules.
Chlorine molecules, for example, will lose an electron to the copper, changing into chloride, a harmless electrolyte. Some of the incoming chloramine molecules are broken down into their constituent parts.
KDF can also reduce soluble heavy metals, soften the water slightly, and have a bacteriostatic effect which reduces the risk of bacteria growing inside of the filter media.
When combined with carbon is known to kill algae and fungi, control bacteria growth, reduce chlorine, pesticides, organic matter, rust, unpleasant taste and odour, hydrogen sulphide, iron, lead, nickel, chromium, cadmium, calcium, scale, mercury and other organic compounds.
Stage 3: Silver Impregnated Carbon
Silver impregnated carbon will remove a wide range of chemical contaminants including:
- Sediment
- Bad taste/odour
- Chlorine
- Chloramines
- Volatile organic improve
- Herbicides, pesticides, insecticides
- Petrochemicals and much more.
Silver impregnation inhibits bacterial growth, which makes this filter ideal for situations where there are periods between use, like holidays homes and caravans.
