Frequently Asked Questions
What contaminants does the BESTWF filter remove?
This combination reduces a wide range of contaminants including:
- Dirt, rust, sand, silt, algae, slime, and other particulate contaminants algae
- Chlorine and chloramines
- Chemicals, chlorine
- Bad taste and odours
- Lead (thanks to the KDF55)
How long will each filter last?
However this may vary based on a few factors:
- Full time vs Part time travel
If you are in the caravan or camp full time, you’ll obviously burn through your filter capacity faster. - Where it is installed
If you use the BEST as a Point of Entry (POE) filter outside the van you will push a lot of water through the filter. If it’s under the sink you may use much less water, helping the filter last longer. - What the quality of the water is like
If you are using harsh water with high levels of sediment and/or chemicals, it will saturate the filter much faster.
If you only travel intermittently, you can extend filter lifespan by unpligging it, fully draining it of water until it is dry then storing it in a hygienic area.
When you reinstall it, flush 10-20 litres of water through.
It’s important to note that even if the water produced by the filter seems decent, the filter should be changed before it reaches the 2 yerar mark. That’s because the risk of bacterial growth within the media will increase over time.
What is the max flow rate of the BestWF?
However, it’s important to note that there is less contact time between the media and the water when using fast flows.
If you’d like to maximise chlorine reduction avoid going over 3 litres per minute when filling your tanks.
Is the BESTWF suitable for use as an under sink filter?
This filter has 1/4″ Female ports which can be connected to fittings that suit push on host fittings, 12mm tubing (common in caravans), or 1/4″ tubing (which normally connects to dedicated drinking taps). It’s highly adaptable.
Can you backflush the BESTWF?
Backflush is a simple process. Simply connect the filter in reverse, then run water through it very slowly. This will push some of the sediment of the inlet side sediment pad.
If you are running the filter as a Point of Entry filter, then it is as It’s a good idea to backflush every few weeks. This will help you stop sediment from clogging the filter prematurely
