What Are Zip Filter Systems? Zip Water Chiller R290_Command_Centre

Zip filter systems are under bench water filtration units which are connected to mains power.

The system filters your water using a high grade carbon filter. This reduces a variety of contaminants including sediment, bad taste/odour, chlorine, and other chjemicals.

All Zip units can provide room temperature or chilled water. Some systems can also boil or carbonate the water (fantastic for sparkling water and the occasional cocktail).

Insulated tanks are used to maintain hot or chilled water, so it is available on-demand

The most appealing aspect of Zip units is that they have sophisticated tapware which makes selecting chilled, boiling, or carbonated water simple.

Generic vs Genuine Zip Filters

Genuine Zip filters are high-quality products manufactured by Zip Australia.  They are extremely reliable and have been tested for use in Zip systems.

The only drawbacks are that they are expensive filters and they are only available in specific range of micron ratings.

Customers looking for a cheaper option or a filter with different specifications will often buy generic alternatives. Companies like Saipol produce excellent filters which can be 30-40% cheaper than a standard Zip filter.

If you are considering a change from genuine to generic, it’s important to consider the differences between each product. The filter’s micron rating (how fine it is) and the capacity (how long it lasts) are the two main factors to keep in mind.

In some cases, moving to a generic filter with a less-fine micron rating can be beneficial, especially if your ultra-fine genuine Zips are blocking too quickly.

It’s important to note that Genuine Zip filters often have additional features like lead reduction capacity and a cyst rating which generics may not have.

Choosing the Correct Zip Filter

Zip have produced several different under sink water chiller/boilers over the years. This can make finding the correct filter for your unit slightly challenging, especially if you haven’t changed it in a while.

The simplest method for choosing the right filter is to look at the filter that is already in the unit. It will have a “Part Number” or “Reorder Number” printed on the filter.

That number should be something like 91289, 91292, 91240, 93701, 93703, and so on.

If you can locate that number, re-ordering a new filter is usually simple.

However, some older systems may contain filters which are no longer available. Older filters like the 91240 and 53000 are no longer available as genuine Zips, so generic options must be used.

Other Ways to Identify Your Zip Filter

If you can’t easily access your filter, or it’s a new system without a filter in place — you’ll have to identify the type of machine you have.

The easiest way to do that is byt looking at the serial number. Most Zip serial numbers will start with 4 digits that represent the year of manufacture.

So a unit with a serical number like 2012XXXXX was most likely made in 2012.

However, it’s worth noting that some older units might not follow this naming convention.

The year of manufacturer will tell you which generation of Zip unit you have, which will help you find the compatible filter. Here is a list of the Zip units from the last 16+ years.

Zip Taps Made Between 2010 to 2015

This generation uses the  Zip GlobalPlus HydroTap filter series. This includes the Zip 91289, Zip 91290, and Zip 91291.

Zip Taps Made Between 2015 to 2017

This generation uses the first Zip Micropurity Filter Series. This includes the Zip 91240 and Zip 91241.

Zip Taps Manufactured After February 2017

This generation uses the latest Zip Micropurity Filter Series including 93701, 93702, 93703, 93704 and 93705.
