Description

HPF-2 Twin Whole House Water Filtration System In Rugged Stainless Steel Enclosure – Watermark Certified

High-quality whole of house filter system designed to remove sediment, chemicals and bad tastes/odours from chlorinated town water.

Protect your family from harsh chemicals and sediment using the HPF-2 Whole Home Water Filtration Unit. It will remove a wide range of contaminants from the water entering your home — making your drinking, shower, bath, and laundry water much cleaner.

Designed to filter contaminants at high flow rates, making it ideal for properties with several bathrooms. Unit also protects your water consuming appliances from sediment-related damage, potentially leading to thousands of dollars in savings.

The unit is fully enclosed in a rugged 304 brushed stainless steel housing. This keeps your filter system safe from the weather, extending its lifespan substantially. The housing also gives the HPF-2 a discrete, modern appearance which won’t detract from the design aesthetic of your home or place of business.

The HDF-2 uses standard 20″ x 4.5″ filters, making it simple to find replacement filters anywhere in Australia. Using a standard filter cartridge size also means you have the option of changing between different types of filters to tackle different contaminants or enhance the performance of the system.

Unit comes with two filter options and an optional pressure limiting valve.

HPF-2 Twin Whole House Water Filter System – Filter Options

Option 1: 2045PS5 – 5 Micron Polyspun Filter and 2045CB5 – 5 Micron Carbon Block

A disposable filter set which can used for 6-9 months before being discarded. Includes a 20″ x 4.5″ 5 Micron Polyspun Sediment Filter and a 20″ x 4.5″ 5 Micron Carbon Block Filter. Great for installations where you don’t have the time to wash filters.

Option 2: 2045PW5Nom – 5 Micron Pleated Washable Filter and  2045ORC – Refillable Cartridge with ORC

A reusable filter set. The 20″ x 4.5″ Pleated Washable Sediment Filter can be washed 4-5 times, giving it a lifespan of up to 18 months.

The 20″ x 4.5″ 2045ORC filter is a refillable cartridge which contains Catalytic Carbon (ORC), a modified form of carbon which has enhanced chemical removal properties. Once the carbon reaches full capacity, you simply pour it onto your garden or into the green bin, before refilling with a bag of carbon.

Pressure limiting valve

A pressure limiting valve is an optional extra. It will prevent pressure build-up in the incoming water line from damaging your filter housings or filters. Recommended for all town water installations and particularly in areas with high water pressure.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Are The Benefits Of Installing A HPF-2 Whole House Water Filter?

Some of the major benefits include

  • Reduced Chemical Exposure
Activated Carbon is very effective at removing chemicals from water. It can reduce chlorine, volatile compounds, pesticides, herbicides, disinfection by-products (Trihalomethanes), and much more. Reducing these chemicals makes your water much safe to consume and shower in.
  • Protects Appliances From Damage
The HPF-2’s sediment filter removes sediment particles which can cause abrasion, blockages, or corrosion on appliances. Removing these particles can help you obtain a longer lifespan from your appliances.
  • Water That Tastes and Smells Fantastic
Carbon can adsorb bad tastes and odours from water. It gives your water tasting a fresher, cleaner flavour.
  • Showering is More Enjoyable
Showering in clean water is a much better experience as the water is cleaner and smells better. The filter system also helps you avoid the harsh drying effect of chlorine, which can improve the appearance of your skin and hair over time.

Should I Get A Triple System Or A Twin System?

High Performance Filtration have a twin unit called the HPF-2 and a Triple Unit called the HPF-3. The HPF-3 has an additional filter cannister, an additional gauge, and is wider than the HPF-2.

Having a third cannister means you can increase the amount of carbon in the system and add other forms of filtration media like polyphosphate, which is ideal for reducing scale build-up.

Alternately, you could also have two filters containing sediment filtration before a single carbon filter (ideal for high sediment areas).

We would only recommend a triple unit if you are dealing with harsh water with a high level of hardness, sediment, or chemicals.

The HPF-3 can also be useful for larger homes as it can support a higher flow rate when additional carbon is used.

Our HPF-3 units are configured to use 1 x Sediment filter, 1 x Carbon filter and 1 x Carbon/Polyphosphate filter — however we can change the types of filters in use to deal with the specific contaminants in your water. Contact us to learn more.

Is This Unit Suitable For Tank, River, Creek, or Bore Water?

Untreated water sources are more likely to harbour parasitic cysts, bacteria, viruses, and protozoa. This unit alone will not reduces those contaminants in a significant way.

If you have these types of contaminants in your untreated water, you may need a much finer water filter for drinking water or a UV System, which will kill 100% of pathogens. Give us a call or email and we will help you determine this unit’s suitability.

Is It Hard To Install?

The HPF-2 and HPF-3 are WaterMark Certified to Australian Plumbing Standards (AS/NZS 3497), and should be installed by a licensed plumber. When your order arrives, give a local plumber a call and book an appointment in.

When installing, it’s a good idea to add a tap just after the filter system, as this makes flushing new filters easier and prevents carbon fines from brand new filters going into your home. It’s also handy to have a bypass added so you can still get water into your home during filter changes.

Where Should I Install My Whole House Water Filter?

The ideal location for an installation is a shaded location which is somewhat protected from the weather. Although the 304 enclosure does a wonderful job of protecting the water filter housings from the elements, your filter system will still last longer if well located.

What Other Filter Media Can I use In My Refillable Water Filter Cannister?

One of the reasons why we often recommend refillable cannisters is that you can use a wide range of filtration media inside of one. Some popular options include:

  1. Activated Carbon
Standard granular activated carbon (GAC) made from processed coconut shells. Fantastic for removing chemical contaminants and for improving the taste/odour of water.
  2. Silver Carbon
Activated carbon which has been impregnated with silver particles to reduce the risk of bacterial growth within the cannister itself.
  3. Catalytic Carbon (ORC Carbon)
An improved form of carbon with great chemical removal capacity. Can catalyse (break down) more complex chemicals, including chloramines.  Reduces hard to get rid of smells like Hydrogen Sulphide.
  4. KDF 55
A blend of copper and zinc. Uses an electrochemical process called REDOX to either take or lose electrons to certain contaminants in the water. Effective at reducing chlorine, chloramines, scale build-up and heavy metals.
  5. Polyphosphate
A natural compound which dissolves in the water to sequester calcium and magnesium ions. A great solution for reducing scale build-up from hard water.

You can mix and match several of these filter medias to achieve your filtration goals. If you need any assistance, get in touch with us today.
